What's new in 2024 for GEHA medical plans

Medical benefits designed for the unique needs of federal employees.


Changes to all five GEHA medical plans
  • Infertility coverage only for artificial insemination (AI). Coverage for drugs associated with AI and in vitro fertilization (IVF limited to 3 cycles annually). Visit GEHA's Family Planning Care Program to learn more.
  • Up to $150 allowance for childbirth classes, both in-network and out-of-network, as long as they are offered through a covered provider or facility.
  • One breast pump every 12 months with birth/delivery.
Changes to HDHP
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) or Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) amount increases to $1,000/year for Self Only and $2,000/year for Self Plus One or Self Plus Family
  • In-network deductible increases to $1,600/year Self Only and $3,200/year Self Plus One or Self Plus Family (due to IRS mandate).
  • Out-of-network deductible increases to $3,200/year Self Only and $6,400/year for Self Plus One or Self Plus Family (due to IRS mandate).
  • In-network out-of-pocket maximum increases to $6,000/year (Self Only) and $12,000/year Self Plus One or Self Plus Family
  • Out-of-network out-of-pocket maximum increases to $8,500/year (Self Only) and $17,000/year Self Plus One or Self Plus Family
  • Health Rewards incentives are changing for 2024. Activities available for rewards include a health assessment, colorectal screening, cervical cancer screening, breast cancer screening and an MDLIVE telehealth visit.4 Visit Health Rewards to view your rewardable activity opportunities.1,2,3

Changes to Standard
  • $0 copay for one primary care physician visit and two urgent care visits per year for children under 18
  • Prescription copay rates for retail and mail order are adjusting slightly. Please see the Standard 2024 plan page for details
  • GEHA is partnering with UnitedHealthcare to offer Medicare Advantage plans to bring choice and value to our members through new plan options. Learn more about the GEHA Standard Medicare Advantage Plan, a UnitedHealthcare® Group Medicare Advantage (PPO) plan. You and your eligible enrolled spouse will each receive a Medicare Part B subsidy of $75 per month when you choose to elect GEHA Standard Medicare Advantage Plan coverage.

Changes to Elevate Plus
  • Elevate Plus will now have a $200 deductible for Self Only and $400 Self Plus One and Self and Family
  • Out-of-pocket maximum increasing to $7,000/year (Self Only) and $14,000/year (Self Plus One and Self Plus Family)
  • Specialist visit copay is increasing from $45 to $50
Changes to High
  • GEHA is partnering with UnitedHealthcare to offer Medicare Advantage plans to bring choice and value to our members through new plan options. Learn more about the GEHA High Medicare Advantage Plan, a UnitedHealthcare® Group Medicare Advantage (PPO) plan. You and your eligible enrolled spouse will each receive a Medicare Part B subsidy of $100 per month when you choose to elect GEHA High Medicare Advantage Plan coverage.
